Ramanas Litter-
Born on 15th May 2008, I’ve felt like a proud grandparent, going through the delivery with Ramana, breathing through each contraction with her as memories of having my own children came back to me. She wouldn’t let me leave her side, so taking the opportunity after each delivery as needed and whilst she was occupied to either run to the loo or make a cup of tea (thoughts ran to vodka and coke too). In the end she was the very proud mum of 6 beautiful bundles of wet fluff which took from start 10 am to finish 5.30 pm and both of use feeling totally exhausted.
My other Queen Isis, was not amused at the latest additions and her language over the next two weeks was enough to make you blush until one morning she got up with me and stuck her nose into the box and decided I like these after all and promptly moved herself in. I kept a close eye on her, and Ramana didn’t seem to mind in fact I think she welcomed the help. Isis took on the role of doting aunt and did everything their mother was doing apart from the feeding, which I’m sure she would have done if she could have.
Over the following months the kittens have basically had two mums, both playing with them and taking great care of them, if they were play fighting and one squealed then both would come running to see why. As a result we have some amazing socialised kittens who love to charge around the house like they’re possessed and in the next breathe laying all over me like a giant kitten blanket fast asleep, they’re all such lap cats. One thing they have discovered is textured wall-paper (thank goodness I was planning on redecorating the living-room) who needs steamers when I’ve got my own little wall-paper strippers.
There will be updates on new litters as they arrive, poor Isis unfortunately has had two phantom pregnancies, unusual, tell me about it, she’s a great mum and itching for her own babies. We couldn’t take her to stud during her last season as she had a dental, and I did not risk her being pregnant when she needed an anaesthetic so I’m waiting for her next season to try again.
